Anti-Wrinkle Injections: Aftercare Advice
Looking after your skin following anti-wrinkle injections is just as important as the treatment itself. Here’s how to get the best results and minimise side effects.
What to expect
You may notice some redness, swelling, or small marks at the injection sites — this is completely normal and should settle within a few hours. Mild bruising, tenderness, or a slight headache can also occur but usually resolve quickly.
What to avoid
To help your treatment settle properly, we recommend avoiding the following for the first 48–72 hours:
-
Saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs
-
Intense exercise or heavy lifting
-
Facial massages or beauty treatments
-
Very hot baths or showers
-
Sleeping face-down on the treated area
Skincare tips
-
Your skin might be more sensitive than usual:
-
Use gentle, hydrating skincare
-
Avoid retinol, glycolic acid, AHAs or exfoliants for 3–5 days
-
Wear SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds for at least 4 days
Other things to note
-
Results develop gradually, typically within 3–14 days
-
Everyone’s facial symmetry is slightly different — any imbalance usually settles or can be adjusted at your review
-
The effects last around 3–4 months, and consistency is key to maintaining results
