Injectable Treatment: Aftercare Advice
Looking after your skin following dermal filler treatments is essential to achieving the best, most natural results and to allow your skin to heal beautifully. Here’s everything you need to know.
What to expect
Immediately after treatment, you may notice some redness, swelling or tenderness around the injection sites. Mild bruising, tiny entry marks or a feeling of firmness under the skin are also common. These side effects are temporary and typically settle within a few hours to a few days.
It’s also important to remember that no face is perfectly symmetrical. In the first few days, fillers can sometimes highlight slight asymmetry, this often balances out as the product settles.
What to avoid
To reduce swelling and encourage optimal healing, avoid the following for the first 48–72 hours:
-
Hot baths, saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs
-
Strenuous exercise or activities that increase blood flow to the face
-
Facial massages, beauty treatments or dental work
-
Sleeping face-down or putting pressure on the treated area
Skincare tips
Your skin might be more sensitive than usual:
-
Avoid AHA, glycolic acid, salicylic acid or retinoids for 3–5 days
-
Use a gentle, hydrating skincare routine
-
Skip makeup for 24 hours to prevent irritation
-
Apply SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sunlight or sunbeds for at least 4 days
